What Board Service Involves
Term Length
- Board members serve a three-year term, with the option to renew.
- Terms are staggered to ensure continuity and leadership development.
Meetings & Time Commitment
- Quarterly Board meetings (virtual, approximately 90 minutes)
- One annual in-person or extended virtual planning session (as feasible)
- Occasional committee meetings or working sessions based on interest and expertise
- Time commitment averages 3–5 hours per quarter, excluding special initiatives
Roles & Responsibilities
Board members are expected to:
- Provide strategic guidance and fiduciary oversight
- Uphold the mission, values, and policies of the organization
- Serve as ambassadors for the E.WE Foundation
- Contribute expertise, lived experience, or leadership perspective
- Participate in key decisions related to governance, strategy, and sustainability
Fundraising & Financial Support
- Board members are expected to actively support the financial sustainability of the organization.
- This may include making an annual contribution (suggested at $1,200), leading or supporting a fundraising effort, connecting the organization with potential supporters, and/or amplifying key initiatives.
- There is no fixed “give or get” requirement; however, engagement in sustainability efforts is expected.
Ethics & Accountability
- Board members must adhere to conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies
- Service is voluntary and unpaid
- All members act in the best interest of the organization and the communities it serves
